Lime Kiln Natural Area is located along the Menomonee River adjacent to the downtown Village Centre, and is approximately 16.5 acres in size.

The park derives its name from two historic lime kilns located within the park, which along with the quarry, date from the 1840's and are in the National Register of Historic Places.

Watch our video and enjoy a stroll through the park, April, 2012!

This downtown wildlife sanctuary is called Lime Kiln Natural Area: a habitat for birds, flora, fauna, and a place to contemplate near the waterfall. Lime Kiln Natural Area is a diverse natural area with a cattail marsh, fresh (wet) meadow, forested drainage, hardwood deciduous forest and the Menomonee River corridor.  About 9.5 acres of the lands along the river gorge are embedded with fossils that date from the Silurian Era, 450 million years ago. These acres have been designated a geological area of state wide significance. (GA-I)
