 Friends of Lime Kiln Natural area is a grassroots organization of advocates who support the Village management plan for the Lime Kiln Natural Area. Friends will be involved in restoration efforts.

 		 Concerns and Issues:
1. Invasive plants are diminishing native plant diversity, threatening the long-term ecological health of Lime Kiln Natural Area.
2. Destructive footpaths and riverbank erosion have been created by uncontrolled use and overuse of the area.
3. Limited Village resources challenge the Friends to generate greater citizen involvement.

What is being done:
The Menomonee Falls Village Board commissioned Cedarburg Science to develop a comprehensive management plan for Lime Kiln Natural Area.

Cedarburg Science is an organization specializing in wetland and woodland ecology and restoration.

The Village Board adopted the Cedarburg Science aggressive five-year plan for restoration and maintenance of Lime Kiln Natural Area including

  • Removing invasive plants
  • Enhancing plant diversity
  • Improving wildlife habitat
  • Providing a quality environmental experience for visitors.
